Five articles on LSTA activities were completed by participants. Two of these articles have already been accepted for publication and the other three are pending.

Original Request for Proposals

Librarians from participating CTC libraries are invited to submit proposals for publication quality articles. $600 per article is available. Authors will be expected to submit articles for publication in journals like Faculty Focus, LOEX, CR&L News, Change, League for Innovation, and American Educator. Publication in education literature outside the library field is strongly encouraged.

Articles may focus on the following topics:

1. Pre-College Information Literacy Research (PILR) - note: the LSTA coordinator will help provide needed data for PILR related articles.
1. Write-up and analysis of data with input from the institutional researcher working on this project
2. Qualitative findings based on the experiences of individual PILR teams and/or students. Use of findings from teams from multiple colleges is encouraged.
3. Other aspects of the PILR experience
2. Other topics related to LSTA projects since 2008, such as:

• librarian/faculty collaboration; progress in information literacy that can be traced to LSTA projects
• tools, strategies or resources being used to promote/support IL; assessment projects
• discussion of teaching and learning practices.

Articles should have some connection to LSTA work, but they need not be limited to LSTA work.

Authors are expected to prepare an article of at least 1000 words (shorter articles may be proposed for publication in journals that limit article length). To apply, email a word document with the information below to lynn.kanne@seattlecolleges.edu. Proposals are due by March 16, 2012. Articles must be complete by June 22, 2012.

Multiple articles will be selected. To evaluate proposals, we will look for proposals for articles that:

• Relate to the proposer's participation in LSTA activities
• Highlight or illustrate the value of information literacy instruction
• Present novel strategies or approaches to pedagogy or assessment for information literacy
• Follow the RFP guidelines in a clear and well-written manner

Deliverables - Due by June 22, 2012

• Completed article
• Publication plan: provide a report of  where the article has been or will be submitted and when.
